Tennis fans can watch the Wimbledon men's final on Sunday for free. Prime Video is making the broadcast of the final match featuring Alexander Zverev available without a paywall, as the streaming service confirmed via Instagram. A paid Prime subscription is not required; simply logging in with an Amazon account is sufficient.
The move was first announced by host Jonas Friedrich during the post-match coverage of the first semifinal: "The final will of course be on Prime. If there are people who don't have a Prime account: Everyone can watch the match on Sunday." The streaming service's official announcement followed shortly after: "The Wimbledon men's final with Alexander Zverev is available for free on Prime Video in Germany and Austria - even without a Prime membership."
First German finalist since Boris Becker
Zverev advanced to the final on Friday after defeating British home favorite Arthur Fery in straight sets in the semifinal. This marks the first time since Boris Becker in 1995 that a German has reached the Wimbledon men's final. Becker lost that match in four sets to Pete Sampras. The last German winner on the hallowed grass is Michael Stich, who won the tournament in 1991. For Zverev, who recently won the French Open, the final will be against Jannik Sinner.
The broadcast from London begins on Sunday at 4 p.m., with the first serve scheduled for no earlier than 5 p.m. Katharina Kleinfeldt will host from the studio in Wimbledon, and Markus Theil will commentate the match alongside Michael Stich. Experts Andrea Petkovic, Tommy Haas, Barbara Schett, and Sascha Bajin will provide analysis before, during, and after the match. Reporter Moritz Lang will capture the atmosphere at the tournament grounds.
