Hollywood's dream factory has produced many power couples. But while most of them fill movie theaters on their own, Tom Holland (30) and Zendaya (29) celebrate their biggest successes side by side - and together regularly break box office records.
Currently, the two stars, who tied the knot in 2026, are proving this even in a double double feature: They can both be seen in Christopher Nolan's (56) epic The Odyssey as well as in the new Spider-Man film. The epic story about Odysseus' wanderings hit theaters in mid-July and is approaching the billion-dollar mark. With Spider-Man: Brand New Day, this sound barrier is likely to fall in less than a week.
A couple simultaneously in two billion-dollar blockbusters - that's never happened before in film history. If you add up the current earnings of the four Spider-Man films they made together and those of The Odyssey, the Zendaya/Holland team accounts for nearly six billion US dollars. Together with commercially successful works in which they did not appear together on camera - such as the Dune films with Zendaya and two Avengers films with Holland - the number even rises to about 15 billion US dollars.
In short: If you want to celebrate a guaranteed box office success in global markets, you should bet on at least one of the two - and ideally on both.
A former couple ties in total earnings
Whether Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes, or Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively - there are many dream couples in the dream factory. The latter duo also recently managed to convince audiences simultaneously, albeit separately, in theaters. While Reynolds shook up the MCU with Deadpool & Wolverine, his wife also had great success in 2024 with It Ends with Us.
Between 2014 and their separation in 2016, a now bitterly estranged former couple was considered a box office magnet. If you add up how much money Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's films have earned together, they also total around 15 billion US dollars today.
They appeared together in one hit and one flop. While the action comedy Mr. & Mrs. Smith collected almost 500 million dollars, the drama By the Sea with Pitt and Jolie in the lead roles only earned about 3.3 million dollars - exactly one-third of the budget.
Many blockbusters-to-be still lie ahead of them
Holland and Zendaya have been spared a first joint flop so far. And currently there's little to suggest that this will change quickly.
What must not be forgotten: They are only 30 and 29 years old respectively. In the coming years, possibly even decades, they will certainly continue to eagerly draw audiences to theaters.
Holland, for example, currently has three films in the pipeline, including a biopic about Fred Astaire, whom he will also portray. And Zendaya is returning to theaters with her potentially third mega-blockbuster later this year: In December, Dune: Part Three, the conclusion of Denis Villeneuve's desert planet trilogy, will be released. At least she is facing a possible billion-dollar hat trick in 2026.
