The reboot of 'Baywatch' will also be available in Germany. Prime Video has secured the international streaming rights to the new action-drama series, as the company has now announced. The series will be available exclusively on the streaming service in 2027 in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and many other countries.
To set the mood, Prime Video will also offer all nine seasons of the original 'Baywatch' series as well as both seasons of 'Baywatch Hawaii.'
What 'Baywatch' fans can expect in the reboot
In the reboot of 'Baywatch,' a new team of lifeguards will be on duty. In addition to dangerous rescue missions, the show will also focus on "personal conflicts and dramatic challenges," according to advance information. The series aims to combine "spectacular action with emotional stories and plenty of beach vibes."
Stephen Amell takes on the lead role of Hobie Buchannon. He is the son of series legend Mitch Buchannon, who was portrayed by David Hasselhoff in the original series. The additional cast includes Jessica Belkin, Shay Mitchell, Hassie Harrison, Thaddeus LaGrone, Noah Beck, and Brooks Nader. Additionally, David Chokachi returns as Cody Madison, along with Erika Eleniak, Michael Bergin, and Kelly Packard reprising their familiar roles from the original series.
For the reboot, which is being produced by Fremantle and FOX Entertainment, Matt Nix serves as showrunner and executive producer. Initially, there will be twelve new 'Baywatch' episodes.
