Since summer 2021, Anna Fleischhauer (39) has been seen as a sports host on "RTL Aktuell". For now, however, viewers will have to do without her. The 39-year-old has started her maternity leave.
"I'm saying goodbye now for quite a while. I have to bring this project here across the finish line", the host explained on July 24 on TV, while touching her baby bump. She said she's very much looking forward to her parental leave, but also to returning later, seeing her colleagues again, and being back in front of the cameras. A clip can still be viewed on the broadcaster's website.
"Now comes the other big adventure"
Fleischhauer also reached out to her followers on Instagram this Saturday. On the social media platform, she posted a photo among other things that was taken in the studio. In the picture, she's waving toward the camera with a smile.
"The day has come to say goodbye for a while", she writes here. "At least to the studio, TV, colleagues... now comes the other big adventure that I'll bring across the finish line." On Instagram too, she already announces that viewers will see her again at a later time on "RTL Aktuell". She says she'll continue to post on the platform, "but with less makeup, flat shoes... and one less shoelace". She's joking with reference to another photo showing her putting on shoes with a torn shoelace.
The news that she's expecting her second child became public in April. Fleischhauer had posted baby bump photos on Instagram as well with the caption: "Our team will be expanded in early fall."
In a press release from the broadcaster, she was quoted as saying: "I'm very much looking forward to experiencing such a big adventure again and I'm curious to see how athletic life will be with two children." Her first child, a son, was born at the end of 2022.
