The Bayreuth Festival has opened. Many prominent guests appeared at the launch, including entertainer Florian Silbereisen (44). He revealed on Instagram to his 263,000 followers that his journey there wasn't entirely smooth. "Even though I spent hours today in almost every summer vacation traffic jam, I made it to Bayreuth on time", explained the musician, actor and host.
The 44-year-old shared several photos from Bayreuth. On the red carpet, he can be seen with Bavarian Minister President Markus Söder (59), among others. Former Chancellor Angela Merkel (72) was also in Bayreuth once again, appearing with her husband Joachim Sauer (77). The two are among the regular guests at the event. Merkel appeared this year in a turquoise combination of long skirt and jacket, which she paired with a matching clutch.
Chancellor Friedrich Merz (70) and his wife Charlotte (65), who wore a green evening gown, also walked the red carpet. Other guests from politics included Research Minister Dorothee Bär (48) and her husband Oliver Bär (49), or the Minister President of Baden-Württemberg, Cem Özdemir (60), with his wife Flavia Zaka.
Silbereisen is not in Bayreuth for the first time
Florian Silbereisen celebrated his premiere at the opening of the Bayreuth Festival last year. Instead of a traffic jam, he struggled with a different problem back then, as he also revealed on Instagram: "This is getting off to a good start", Silbereisen laughed in July 2025 alongside a photo showing a stained tuxedo. "Today I get to attend the premiere of the Festival in Bayreuth for the first time. It's really exciting! I was all ready to leave and wanted to quickly brush my teeth one last time..." Good thing he had a second tuxedo in his luggage.
