After the attack on the Berlin Christopher Street Day on Saturday evening, many celebrities also expressed their dismay. According to media reports, a vehicle struck several people around 10:00 PM, one woman died, and 16 people were injured. The event was canceled, and the police are now calling it an attack.
Several artists who performed at the CSD in Berlin spoke out. Among them is singer Sarah Connor (46). In an Instagram story, she first thanked everyone for the "beautiful performance", saying it was "incredibly beautiful". "All the more terrible", she continues in her video, that they had to be evacuated from the backstage area shortly afterwards. Jochen Schropp (47) also performed on stage at the Berlin CSD and expressed his dismay in his Instagram stories. He goes on to say in a video that he hopes "somehow, we can get through this as a community". He saw many people "who were not doing well afterwards and were in shock".
Schropp's colleague, podcaster Ricarda Hofmann, stated in a statement that she also shared on Instagram: "Right now I'm actually at a loss for words. I was at the CSD today. Not just as a host, but as part of a community that comes together to be visible. To celebrate love. To stand up for each other. What happened today has changed something in me."
