While the early exit of the German national team at the 2026 World Cup is probably still deeply affecting some players and fans, Manuel Neuer (40) is trying to recharge on vacation. The goalkeeper hints at this on Instagram. Neuer shares photos from his obviously luxurious vacation with his roughly 15 million followers.
One of the pictures shows the 40-year-old in a pool, another was apparently taken in the facility's gym, and in another photo he appears to be taking a walk. There are also shots of the beautiful landscape, in cycling gear, and in front of several boats on the water with his little son in his arms. This suggests that his wife Anika (26) might also be there.
Neuer is tight-lipped about the photos, posting just a single word: "Reset." The soccer player is thus speaking of a "reset." He doesn't reveal where he is staying. The "Mallorca Magazin" suspects that it is one of the most exclusive resorts in the southwest of the island.
World Cup exit was "extremely sobering" for Neuer
"The early elimination from the World Cup is extremely sobering," Neuer also shared on Instagram shortly after the defeat against Paraguay. He said it hurts that the team didn't advance in the tournament. He explained that he had consciously decided to make a comeback under then-national team coach Julian Nagelsmann (38).
"For one thing, because wearing the national team jersey has always filled me with deep pride," Neuer wrote. "For another, because at 40 years old and with experience from four World Cup tournaments, I wanted to support the young players in the best possible way both on and off the field and help German soccer." Although it's a bitter ending, he doesn't regret this decision even in hindsight.
