Sometimes it takes a TV show to make an invitation work out. That's the experience Tom Holland (30) has just had. After it became known that Norwegian World Cup star Erling Haaland (25) apparently ignored an offer from the Hollywood actor, he finally responds - and does so publicly.

Recently, the Spider-Man actor was asked about the reports on the Tonight Show by Jimmy Fallon (51). The late-night host brought up that the actor supposedly messaged Haaland and the soccer player ignored Holland because he had "no idea" who the 30-year-old was. His offer to hang out therefore went unanswered.

"Yes," the actor admits in a clip that was also posted on Instagram. He had sent Haaland a private message. Thinking you can invite someone to dinner and then getting no response is "exactly the kind of experience" actors need to stay grounded, Holland commented. The English-born star indicated he would still very much like to meet up with the soccer player. However, he's not sure if Haaland still wants to after England knocked the Norwegians out of the tournament at the World Cup.

Likeable reaction from Erling Haaland

Haaland has now also delivered a down-to-earth response. The soccer star commented on that very Instagram post with few but likeable words and directly tagged Holland's account. "Dinner invitation accepted," Haaland wrote. "A bit late," he admitted with a laughing emoji with a sweat drop on its temple. This emoji is often used by many people to indicate a small mishap, for example. Holland should just say where the two can meet.
