Actor Sven Martinek (62) is proud of his daughter Esther Sedlaczek (40), who is currently working as a World Cup host for ARD. In an interview with the magazine "SuperIllu", the 62-year-old says: "I think it's wonderful what she has achieved, and I also receive a lot of positive feedback from my circle - including people who know about soccer. They say: 'Esther is doing a brilliant job!' She built all of this herself and has a long, hard road behind her."
Many Years Without Contact
The Magdeburg native has a total of seven biological children. However, the actor only had contact with Esther Sedlaczek, who will be in front of the camera again on Thursday for the World Cup quarterfinal France - Morocco, several years after her birth. Sedlaczek grew up with her single mother and only met her father when she was 16 - on the phone. In the early 2000s, she wrote him a letter with her number, and he then called her. "That was a totally surreal moment", she recalled in the Sky format "Meine Geschichte".
Martinek knew that the situation could overwhelm his daughter and for this reason left the initial contact "to some extent up to me", Sedlaczek continued. Today, the two have a "really, really wonderful friendship". As a grandfather to her three children, he is now also present: "It's really wonderful to see him as a grandfather. That's something very special to me", she raved in the WDR-2 podcast. "It makes my heart swell."
Sven Martinek apparently also has a good relationship with fellow actor Simone Thomalla (61), with whom he was together from 1995 to 1999. In the "SuperIllu" interview, he revealed: "We share a really beautiful and honest friendship. I would go through fire for Simone and I know that she would do the same in return." Meanwhile, Sven Martinek seems to have found his romantic happiness: He has been in a relationship with Bianca Rütter since 2018.
