Barefoot, with a sparkling 'Happy Birthday' tiara in her hair and a bunch of balloons within reach: This is how Duchess Meghan captured her 45th birthday on Tuesday on Instagram. The accompanying video was filmed by a very special cameraman: husband Prince Harry (41) captured the scene. In the background, he can be heard laughing while talking to Meghan.

In the short clip on her Instagram story, Meghan twirls through the home kitchen. She's wearing a white T-shirt with the inscription 'It's Giving Mrs' and matching loose-fitting pants. The private glimpse also shows two of the couple's dogs, who were equipped with little birthday hats.

Two photos, a jump into the water

Earlier in the morning, the former 'Suits' actress had posted two black-and-white photos. In the first image, she's jumping into an outdoor pool wearing a swimsuit, sunglasses, and holding a bundle of balloons. The second photo shows the moment immediately after: While the water splashes upward, only an arm and the balloons are visible above the water's surface.

Meghan also thanked everyone for all the birthday wishes. Her lifestyle brand As Ever also congratulated the founder with a photo series that includes, among other things, a childhood photo. For this occasion, one of the brand's scented candles will be lit, the post states.

The celebration apparently took place at home in California

Meghan is said to have spent the day itself in her closest circle: with Prince Harry and their children Archie (7) and Lilibet (5) at the family's home in California. No public appearances were scheduled.

However, the weeks before were anything but quiet. In July, the Duchess appeared in Los Angeles at a screening of the documentary 'Cookie Queens,' in which she is involved as an executive producer. In Australia, she also sat on the panel as a guest judge on 'MasterChef Australia,' filling in for Andy Allen during his parental leave.

A documentary awakens childhood memories

Meghan spoke about the film in an interview with the US magazine 'People,' which was published right on her special day. In the US, 'Cookie Queens' opens in selected theaters on August 7. The focus is on four young Girl Scouts selling the famous Girl Scout Cookies.

The topic strikes a chord with the California native: she was a Girl Scout herself, and her mother Doria Ragland (69) led the troop at the time. The documentary brought back 'wonderful memories,' she told 'People.' 'These girls are our leaders of tomorrow and wonderful role models,' Meghan continued. It was important to her 'to show young entrepreneurs, girls with financial literacy and with skills that lay the foundation for their future success.'

The film was created with the participation of Archewell Productions, Meghan and Harry's production company. The fact that she herself is raising a daughter gave the project additional weight for her.
