The wedding of Aurora Ramazzotti (29) and Goffredo Cerza (30) was supposed to be an unforgettable fairytale weekend - and it certainly was. However, not quite as expected: After the romantic celebration in Sicily, many guests found themselves caught up in unexpected travel chaos.

The daughter of Eros Ramazzotti (62) and Michelle Hunziker (49) shared numerous emotional impressions of her wedding to Goffredo Cerza on Instagram over the weekend. But shortly after the festivities, the newlywed couple and many guests faced an unplanned challenge: They were stranded in Sicily.

"All flights from here have been cancelled. My guests got caught in the combination of a flight strike and the erupting Etna, and we're currently trying to figure out how to leave Sicily", Aurora Ramazzotti wrote in her Instagram story alongside a photo of her three-year-old son Cesare.

The chaos was caused by the convergence of several events: On Sunday, a 24-hour flight strike in Italy grounded numerous connections. At the same time, Catania airport had to temporarily close due to an eruption of Mount Etna. Even at the beginning of the week, flights to and from Catania continued to be affected.

Wedding Guests Find Creative Solutions

The wedding guests were apparently not discouraged and looked for alternative ways to get back home. "Some flew to Calabria and are now continuing by car, others rented buses and took additional guests along", Ramazzotti reported. Still others had found a rather unusual flight - and at least escaped the volcano that way. She added with humor: "Maybe someone will return home on foot."

Aurora Ramazzotti herself also initially remained in Sicily. She took the unusual situation with humor: "Occasionally I wonder why everything I chew crunches, but then I remember that a gigantic ash cloud is hovering above my head." Despite the chaotic ending, she drew a positive conclusion: "One thing is certain: We will never forget this weekend."

Michelle Hunziker Extends Her Sicily Stay

It is still unclear whether Aurora Ramazzotti and Goffredo Cerza will spend their planned honeymoon in Sicily - or will have to stay there for the time being due to the circumstances. Michelle Hunziker, meanwhile, is using the unplanned extension for a little break.

The television host shared on Instagram impressions of her stay on the Italian island, showing herself in a swimsuit on a yacht off Panarea, an island north of Sicily.
