A British court has sentenced Barbara Broccoli's (66) stalker to an indefinite stay in a psychiatric facility. According to the BBC, the man is a 37-year-old from the London borough of Lambeth.

According to the report, Broccoli, who is best known as the former producer of the "James Bond" film series, lived in fear of the man for more than a decade. In court, the defendant admitted to stalking the 66-year-old and violating a restraining order twice. The presiding judge issued an indefinite commitment order. The 37-year-old can now only leave the facility with official permission.

Only her friends know where Barbara Broccoli lives now

According to the report, the defendant was initially friends with Broccoli's son before becoming increasingly fixated on the film producer in 2009. The man allegedly sent the now 66-year-old hundreds of messages. Law enforcement authorities described it as a "disturbing campaign." The content of the messages ranged "from strange to intimate to threatening.

On Valentine's Day 2025, he allegedly left messages on a voicemail in which he talked about having murderous thoughts. As early as 2016, he reportedly broke into Broccoli's home and caused significant damage. A first restraining order against him was issued in 2017.

According to the report, Broccoli even had to sell her home. In a statement to the court, the producer described living "in constant fear for her personal safety," being permanently tense and constantly looking over her shoulder. By now, only her closest friends know where she lives.

According to the report, psychiatric experts did not agree on the exact diagnosis of the defendant, but they did agree that a disorder exists and that it can be treated in a comparable manner. The man's substance use allegedly worsened the disorder. One expert reportedly stated that the 37-year-old poses a risk to the general public in various ways. His stalking behavior can not only cause significant psychological harm. In the past, the man had also become physically violent on multiple occasions - including toward family members.
