The RTL broadcasting center must be evacuated due to a bomb discovery in Cologne. The broadcaster reports this. An American World War II bomb was found in the Rhine on Wednesday evening at the height of Rheinpark.
The unexploded ordnance will be defused today, but first a larger area around the discovery site within a 400-meter radius must be cordoned off. This includes the studios of RTL and ntv. A total of around 360 residents are also affected by the evacuation measures, reports "Express".

The bomb defusal also has implications for RTL's broadcasting operations. The broadcasters' employees cannot remain in the broadcasting center, which means that "RTL Aktuell" will be broadcast today, Thursday at 6:45 PM not from Cologne, but from the capital city studio in Berlin.
The news channel ntv will use a mobile studio starting at 3 PM, which is located outside the evacuation area. The midday program "Punkt 12" can apparently be broadcast as planned. According to the current status, the live broadcast can remain on air until 3 PM, according to the broadcaster.
