In an elegant blue pantsuit, Wimbledon's queen has returned to the court. On day four of the Wimbledon Championships, Princess Kate (44) came to the prestigious tennis tournament for the first time this year on July 2, 2026. According to British reports, the wife of heir to the throne Prince William (44) was characteristically approachable.
The Princess is patron of Wimbledon. Visits to the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club are considered an absolute must in the royal calendar. On the official Instagram account of the tournament, they therefore expressed their thanks appropriately: "It is wonderful to welcome back our Patron, Her Royal Highness, The Princess of Wales, to #Wimbledon."
Princess Kate hands out tickets
Kate apparently also took plenty of time for the tennis fans in attendance during her visit before taking her seat at the tennis court herself. This time, however, completely contrary to tradition, as the "Daily Mail" reports. The Princess did not sit in the so-called Royal Box, which is reserved for invited guests such as celebrities and members of the Royal Family.
Princess Kate was also observed taking selfies with fans and chatting with people waiting who had been queuing since the early morning hours for tickets. At the Wimbledon Championships, it is customary for a small number of tickets to be reserved for on-site purchase for that day. Accordingly, long queues typically form. As can be seen in footage, Kate was also involved in distributing the tickets.
At the men's final in 2024, Kate experienced a moving moment. She received standing ovations as she made her way to her seat in the Royal Box together with her daughter, Princess Charlotte, and her sister Pippa. After the match, she presented Carlos Alcaraz (23) with the winner's trophy. At the time, it was only her second public appearance after announcing her illness.
In 2025, Kate presented the trophy to Wimbledon winner Jannik Sinner (24), among others. Together with William and their children Prince George and Charlotte, she also met with the athlete for a chat after the men's final. The youngest of the family, Prince Louis, was not there. However, the children presented Sinner with three tennis balls for an autograph. Louis probably got one of them as a souvenir.
It is expected that Kate will traditionally present the trophies again this year.
