Queen Camilla (78) made an unusual statement at "Trooping the Colour". Instead of classic elegance in light or bluish tones, the wife of King Charles (77) opted for a completely new look on Saturday: She wore a red dress whose design was inspired by the military uniform of the Grenadier Guards.

As "People" magazine reports, the dress made of red silk crepe was designed by Fiona Clare. Camilla paired it with a black beret by Philip Treacy, adorned with a white feather and the regiment's cap badge. The look was completed by her Grenadier Guards brooch.

By Carriage Through London

The setting for the striking appearance was "Trooping the Colour", the annual public celebration of the British monarch's birthday. Together with King Charles, Camilla rode in a horse-drawn carriage through London. The procession took the royals from Buckingham Palace along the grand avenue of The Mall and through St. James's Park to Horse Guards Parade, where the ceremonial inspection takes place.

Afterward, they returned to the palace along the same route, where the family traditionally gathers on the balcony to watch the Royal Air Force flyover. For King Charles, this is already the fourth time the parade has been held in his honor. He ascended to the throne in 2022 after the death of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022).

Parade in a Positive Phase

Charles appeared at his birthday parade during one of the more pleasant phases of his reign so far. This followed a successful visit to North America and a much-noted appearance by Princess Kate (44) in Italy, marking her return to the international stage.

Once again this year, the King did not participate in the parade on horseback. While he still completed the traditional event on horseback in 2023, Charles has been taking part in the procession by carriage since the announcement of his cancer diagnosis in 2024.
