"Absolute trash format by now," Tom Kaulitz (36) already commented in the trailer for the third season of "Kaulitz & Kaulitz" (starting July 23 on Netflix). Indeed, the new episodes go quite below the belt at times. However, the many fans of the twin brothers are unlikely to be bothered by that.
Where is the key for the chastity cage?
Thanks to Bill Kaulitz's (36) humorous and endearing nature, even the most risqué scenes quickly lose their crudeness. The Tokio Hotel frontman prescribes himself a "detox" right at the start. His dating life had been so wild lately that he himself had lost track of it. He now wants to become "a bit more sensible" and change some things about himself. Brother Tom doubts, however, that the resolution will last long - "maybe two hours." Indeed, Bill soon after makes out with reality TV star Jannik Kontalis (29) at a lively pool party. The "chastity cage" that Bill put on himself because of his detox plan also has to go. If only the key, kept safe by Tom, could be found...
Bizarre scenes that could quickly lead to secondhand embarrassment with other protagonists. However, viewers hardly hold even such moments against the likeable twin brothers. After all, loyal fans know how much Bill longs for the right partner by his side and how much Tom worries about his brother's heart's well-being. In the third season too, it's wonderful to empathize with the Kaulitz twins.
Many topics of the new season are, however, already widely known. After all, the episodes pick up experiences since last summer that have already been extensively reported on or that Bill and Tom Kaulitz have discussed in their podcast "Kaulitz Hills - Senf aus Hollywood." These include, for example, bandmate Georg Listing's (39) wedding, the Tokio Hotel anniversary concert in Berlin, and the sitting for the wax figures at Madame Tussauds Berlin.
Touching fan meeting
It still doesn't get boring though. The series lets the audience experience the well-known events up close once again. It's not just loud and flamboyant, you also experience the brothers in touching and reflective moments. For instance, at a meeting with fans from day one. One follower tells how Bill, with his example, gave him the courage to be himself and in a way saved his life. A moment that visibly moves not only the singer. Bill shows a completely different side after the anniversary concert "20 Jahre Durch den Monsun" in Berlin. Due to technical problems during the performance, the 36-year-old is unusually angry afterwards and loudly vents his frustration.
There's also conflict between Bill and Tom in the third season. Bill feels patronized by his brother and criticized too often. "I'm always to blame for everything," he says in tears. Joint therapy is supposed to help resolve the tensions. The camera accompanies the brothers to several sessions in which they openly express what bothers them about each other: Bill is annoyed by Tom's anxieties, Tom in turn by Bill's dating stories. Despite all the friction, however, it becomes clear once again how closely the two are connected. "When the other one is no longer there... I can't even imagine it," Bill says.
Exercise, prevention and ugly feet
But it's not just mentally that the musicians work on themselves in the third season. They also undergo a comprehensive health check. Tom especially considers this important, after all, he wishes for a "long life." It's now time to live healthier and set the course for the future. Heidi Klum's (53) husband already does a lot for his fitness and performs daily exercise routines. But he sees room for improvement with Bill: "Bill has no balance," Tom notes and prescribes joint running training. The head is fine, now only the body needs to catch up.
The brothers also speak openly about less flattering details. According to Tom, Bill has "ugly feet" because he prefers small feet and has therefore worn shoes that are too tight his whole life. Instead of the actually fitting size 42.5, he squeezes himself into a 40. Bill, however, counters promptly and claims: "Tom always has athlete's foot."
Details that aren't necessarily needed but provide some amusing moments. Fans get their money's worth again in the eight episodes of the third season: They receive personal insights, experience the brothers behind the scenes, and accompany them through ups and downs. "The heart is full," Bill concludes at the end, but the "new adventures" are already ahead. A possible hint at a fourth season? There's certainly drive: Bill has bought the neighboring house and is already planning the renovation. And the question of what happens next in his love life is also likely to occupy many viewers.
