The Football World Cup in Canada, Mexico, and the USA entered its heated phase on Sunday evening. With a late 1-0 victory over South Africa, host nation Canada became the first country to secure a ticket to the round of 16. Who will follow them will be determined by the 15 remaining knockout matches of the round of 16. However, around a third of these will not be broadcast on free TV, but only on MagentaTV.

The very first match is already a duel with surprise potential. The game between Netherlands and dark horse Morocco, which kicks off in the early hours of June 30 at 03:00 AM, will be available exclusively on the German Telekom streaming service. The same applies to the potential round of 16 opponent of the German national team - provided they successfully complete their match against Paraguay this Monday (kickoff: 10:30 PM): On June 30, tournament favorite France and Sweden will face off at 11:00 PM on MagentaTV.

From July 1 to July 4, four more games will follow there: On July 1, host nation Mexico and Germany-conqueror Ecuador will play starting at 03:00 AM. The USA will face Bosnia-Herzegovina a day later (kickoff: 02:00 AM), and on July 3, two veterans Cristiano Ronaldo (41) and Luka Modrić (40) will face each other on MagentaTV when Portugal and Croatia battle for advancement to the round of 16 starting at 01:00 AM. At 00:00 AM on July 4, Argentina will then play against surprise team Cape Verde.

These games will air on free TV

For the remaining nine matches in the round of 16, ARD (Das Erste) and ZDF secured broadcasting rights alongside MagentaTV. Germany versus Paraguay will be shown on ZDF, as will Brazil versus Japan earlier on Monday starting at 7:00 PM. Colombia versus Ghana (July 4, 03:30 AM) as well as Switzerland versus Algeria (July 3, 05:00 AM) and Australia versus Egypt (July 3, 8:00 PM) can also be seen there.

On ARD (Das Erste), the matches Ivory Coast versus Norway (June 30, 7:00 PM), England versus DR Congo (July 1, 6:00 PM), Belgium versus Senegal (July 1, 10:00 PM), and Spain versus Austria (July 2, 9:00 PM) will be broadcast.
