When Apple TV, then still called Apple TV+, launched in 2019, The Morning Show was among the streaming provider's first in-house original series. However, roughly eight years later, it's coming to an end. As Apple TV now announces, the upcoming fifth season will be the series' last. The final episodes will air starting in 2027. However, an exact date is not yet known.
The two Hollywood stars Jennifer Aniston (57) and Reese Witherspoon (50) will slip into the lead roles one last time and are involved as executive producers. Tech giant Apple has "supported our vision for 'The Morning Show' from the beginning, and we feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to tell stories that reflect what's happening in the world around us with a touch of dark humor," Aniston is quoted in a press release.
According to the actress, it was known from the beginning that this would be the final season. That's why they were able to consciously shape the ending. "This show was always more than just a show about a newsroom - it was about why newsrooms matter," Witherspoon explains.
"Eight years. Five seasons. So many memories."
The two stars have also already spoken out on Instagram. "Eight years. Five seasons. So many memories," Witherspoon writes alongside a video showing numerous behind-the-scenes moments from The Morning Show. She can't wait for fans to see the final season. Aniston also shares on the social media platform two pictures and a short clip taken during filming.
Besides Aniston and Witherspoon, the series ensemble also includes Mark Duplass, Karen Pittman, Billy Crudup, Jon Hamm, and Nicole Beharie, among others. As was announced back in March 2026, Jeff Daniels will also join as a new star in the fifth season. Additionally joining are Lizzy Caplan and Reneé Rapp, among others. Charlotte Stoudt is the showrunner, with Mimi Leder directing.
