The Baldwin brothers are a fixture in the US media landscape. The most famous brother is likely Alec Baldwin (68), who is known from films and series such as "The Hunt for Red October", "Pearl Harbor" or "30 Rock". But that may also be partly because his brother Stephen Baldwin (60) hasn't pursued a major career in the dream factory over the past decades. Hailey Bieber's (29) father is also an actor, but according to his own statements, he has consciously withdrawn from the big Hollywood hustle and bustle.
With a role in "The Usual Suspects", Stephen Baldwin had the best prerequisites in the mid-1990s to become a real movie star. "I probably could have taken the path to becoming a big star", he speculates in an interview with the US magazine "People" in retrospect.
But that didn't correspond to his nature. He explains: "I didn't want to be Tom Cruise and have to make 100 million dollars at the box office." He'd rather be "a knucklehead from Massapequa", Baldwin laughs. That suits him much better.
The biggest mistake of his career?
Stephen Baldwin then decided to star alongside Pauly Shore (58) in the slapstick comedy "Bio-Dome", which was released in Germany as "Bud & Doyle: Total bio. Garantiert schädlich". Alec had warned him at the time that this step might not be good for his career. Alec even saw it as possibly the biggest career mistake.
Indeed, things became quieter for Stephen Baldwin, who has also stood in front of the cameras in recent years, in the realm of major Hollywood productions. But that wasn't because of any flops, but quite deliberately, he says.
The actor found faith. "I've made 100 movies, made more money than I could have ever imagined in my wildest dreams, and I'm married to the hottest woman I've ever seen in my life", Baldwin says. Jesus is his rock, his wife Kennya, whom he has been married to since 1990, is his anchor. He feels blessed and has a wonderful life. He renounced mainstream fame long ago.
