After more than 25 years, Marco Girnth (56) has left "SOKO Leipzig". In his place, a new face joins the investigation team. Simon Böer (51), known from "Herzensbrecher" and "Notruf Hafenkante", takes over the role of Chief Inspector Dirk Trebbe. This was announced by production company UFA Mitte.
In the future, Böer will investigate alongside Melanie Marschke, Amy Mußul, and Johannes Hendrik Langer in Leipzig and the surrounding area. His entry takes place with Season 27, which is currently being filmed and is scheduled to air on ZDF starting in fall 2026. Even before his official start, Böer was briefly seen in the episode "Die Zeit heilt alle Wunden": In one scene, he spoke with Melanie Marschke, who plays Detective Chief Inspector Ina Zimmermann in the series.
Who is Dirk Trebbe?
According to the production announcement, Dirk Trebbe is designed as an experienced, calm investigator who looks closely and doesn't lose sight of the people involved. Shaped by humble circumstances, he combines consistent action with an intuition for the weaknesses of others.
Executive Producer Tanya Momella Mallory is convinced by the new addition. With Böer, they gain a versatile and charismatic actor whose character brings not only investigative experience but also "great human depth." This is precisely how he enriches the team in a special way and opens up new narrative possibilities. She looks forward to "exciting stories and new dynamics in the ensemble."
25 Years of "SOKO Leipzig"
"SOKO Leipzig" holds a special position within the crime drama landscape: It is Germany's only primetime "SOKO" and celebrated its 25th anniversary in January 2026. The change in the investigation team thus falls within the series' anniversary year.
Another highlight is already scheduled for summer. As part of the Leipzig Film Nights, three episodes of the series will be shown on the big cinema screen on August 7, 2026. Among them is the exclusive premiere of the episode "Letzte Umarmung" from Season 27, before its TV broadcast - featuring Simon Böer as the new Inspector Dirk Trebbe. The evening will be complemented by the episode "Bombenspiel" from the first season as well as "Lucky", which the community voted for on social media. Members of the Season 27 cast are expected to be in attendance.
