A lottery ticket with the winning numbers for the current million-dollar jackpot brings private detective Wilsberg (Leonard Lansink) and his friend Ekki (Oliver Korittke) a new case. The ticket, which Wilsberg finds in a book, actually belongs to brewery owner Lars Roxel (Christian Hockenbrink). But his joy over the winnings is short-lived. He is discovered dead next to a brewing kettle shortly after. The homicide division in Münster takes over the investigation.
