The morning crew is celebrating: The "Sat.1-Frühstücksfernsehen" achieved a 27.4 percent market share among 14- to 49-year-olds on Wednesday morning, marking the highest rating since fall 2022. On average, 340,000 viewers aged three and above watched the four-and-a-half-hour live broadcast, 110,000 of whom belonged to the key demographic. This is according to official figures from AGF Videoforschung, as reported by "DWDL" among others.
With this, the morning program from Berlin surpassed its own previous records. For context: 25.5 percent was the previous record for 2026, and around 24 percent was the strongest result of 2025. To find an even higher rating, you have to go back to October 2022, when the show set its all-time record with 28.5 percent.
"We're thrilled out of our minds": The team celebrates
The creators didn't hold back their enthusiasm about the record. In a joint post by Marlene Lufen, the "Frühstücksfernsehen" and Christian Wackert, they stated: "You're looking at a morning show team that's thrilled out of its mind about crazy ratings! We haven't seen 27.4 percent in a long time, simply wonderful."
The thanks went explicitly to the entire crew - from camera, direction and sound to makeup and styling to the editorial team: "We sometimes argue about topics and direction. Because we're all involved with so much passion." And directed at the viewers: "Thank you to all of you at home who enjoy watching @fruehstuecksfernsehen. We love you. And that's actually true."
RTL didn't stand a chance
The competition had nothing to counter with in the early morning. "Deutschland am Morgen" on RTL reached 140,000 viewers and an 8.1 percent market share among young audiences. The simultaneous broadcast on ntv brought in an additional 57,000 viewers and a respectable 4.0 percent market share for the news channel. But even combined, both channels fell short of Sat.1.
