The singles finals are taking place at Wimbledon this weekend. Today at 5 p.m., Czech players Karolina Muchova and Linda Noskova will face off, followed tomorrow at the same time by German professional Alexander Zverev and Italian Jannik Sinner. Princess Kate (44) will likely present the trophies again in her role as patron of the host All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club. As always, attention will also fall on her outfits for the hallowed grass.
Since her marriage to Prince William in 2011, Kate has been a permanent fixture at Wimbledon. She has attended numerous matches and has also presented the trophies to the winners of the ladies' and gentlemen's singles finals since 2019. Over the years, the Princess of Wales has developed some fashion preferences at the tennis tournament, as the U.S. magazine "People" has compiled.
From Tennis Whites to Bold Colors
Kate made her Wimbledon debut shortly after the wedding in a white tank dress by Temperley London. In 2012 and 2014, she remained faithful to classic white, choosing designs by Alexander McQueen and Zimmerman.
Later, she more frequently opted for bold tones. In 2015, she wore a red, short-sleeved midi dress by LK Bennett, and in 2018 a bright canary yellow dress by Dolce & Gabbana. In 2021, she chose an emerald green midi dress, also by Dolce & Gabbana.
Moving Appearance in 2024
Her 2024 appearance attracted particular attention. After her withdrawal due to her cancer diagnosis, she returned to Centre Court wearing a purple dress by Safiyaa. Upon her arrival, she was greeted with a standing ovation, with daughter Princess Charlotte (11) by her side. Fashion expert Bethan Holt emphasizes that Kate is known for choosing thoughtful and playful motifs for her Wimbledon appearances. Purple is also considered the color of courage, which could have been a reference to her situation at the time.
Dots, Pastels, and the First Pantsuit
Kate rarely wears patterned dresses at Wimbledon. An exception is polka dots, which she wore in 2017 and 2022, among other years. She has appeared in pastels several times: in 2019, she presented the trophies in a light blue dress by Emilia Wickstead, followed in 2023 at the ladies' singles final by a pastel green ensemble by Self-Portrait with a bouclé top and pleated skirt.
Recently, bold blue has dominated. In 2025, Kate wore a royal blue midi dress by Roksanda. A year later, she appeared on the fourth day of Wimbledon for the first time in a pantsuit, which was also blue. The two-piece ensemble was by New York designer Gabriela Hearst.
