The new Monaco themed area at Europa-Park in Rust has been officially inaugurated - and by the highest authority. Prince Albert II of Monaco (68) traveled to Germany's largest amusement park together with his family. At the prince's side were Princess Charlène (48) and the eleven-year-old twins Jacques and Gabriella. Albert's sister, Princess Stéphanie of Monaco (61), was also part of the royal delegation. The Monegasque area had already opened at the start of the season in March, and now the official inauguration by the princely family has taken place. Europa-Park announced this in a statement.
With the "Monaco" area, the 18th European themed world is now entering Europa-Park. As the park states on its website, the area promises "Riviera glamour up close". Among cacti, agaves, and Mediterranean plants, visitors can expect racing cars from the prince's collection, Formula 1 simulators for their own laps on the famous street circuit, as well as a virtual aquarium that provides insights into Monaco's Oceanographic Museum.
The concept was developed in close coordination with the princely house to create an experience as authentic as possible. Park chief Roland Mack appeared visibly proud and grateful for the collaboration with the princely house. Europa-Park thrives "on exactly such strong partnerships that have always characterized our family business", he said. "Monaco is one of the most remarkable destinations in Europe."
A square for the Grimaldis
In the middle of the new area, the "Place Grimaldi de Monaco" was unveiled - a plaza that now bears the name of the princely dynasty. The gesture is intended to emphasize the close friendship between the Mack family and the princely house.
Prince Albert II was impressed. "I am extraordinarily happy that I can inaugurate this new Monegasque themed area at Europa-Park together with my wife Princess Charlène and our children", he is quoted as saying. The replica has "extraordinary quality".
Circus, casino, and roller coaster
For the inauguration, a circus parade marched through the park, including the troupe "Les Clowns en Folie" from Monaco - a reference to the connection with the world-famous Monte Carlo Circus Festival, which will also be a guest at Europa-Park again in the upcoming winter season. During a casino game, Albert and Charlène personally presented the prizes to the winners.
To conclude, the guests walked through an exotic garden modeled after the "Jardin Exotique" in Monaco.
At the invitation of the Mack family, around 250 invited guests were on site. From the entertainment world came entertainer Ross Antony (51), who appeared with husband Paul (52). "What an absolutely unforgettable experience at the opening of the new 'Monaco' themed area at Europa-Park", he wrote on Instagram. A very special highlight for him was meeting Princess Charlène of Monaco. "What an impressive, warm, and incredibly likeable woman. It was a great honor for me."
