With the new Prime Video series "Elle", the cult figure Elle Woods from "Natürlich Blond" gets her own backstory. Actress Lexi Minetree (25) slips into the role of the young fashion icon and has now revealed which small but important detail of the outfits she particularly fought for.

At a panel at Obsessed Fest, the 25-year-old shared that one thing was especially close to her heart: dresses with pockets. "We really fought for pockets. I mean, honestly - a dress with pockets? Elle would love that", Minetree explained according to "People". After all, her character is often ahead of her time when it comes to fashion.

The iconic looks of the high school version of Elle Woods thrilled the actress so much that she admits to having "indefinitely borrowed" one or two pieces of clothing from the set. However, she didn't want to reveal which pieces exactly. "There were just too many beautiful things - how could you resist?", she joked.

Warming up for the perfect imitation

But the wardrobe wasn't the only thing that demanded a lot from Minetree. To capture the typical tone and energy of Reese Witherspoon's (50) famous portrayal from the 2001 film, she completed a 15-minute warm-up routine for body and voice every morning. During this, she would frequently mumble dialogues from the original film to herself. "People in the background probably thought I had lost my mind", she said laughing.

Witherspoon herself also offered advice to her successor. She advised Minetree to drink plenty of water, take breaks, breathe deeply, and enjoy every moment of the extraordinary experience.

The prequel series "Elle" premiered on July 1st on Prime Video and tells the story of Elle Woods during her high school years, long before she achieved cult status as a law student in "Natürlich Blond".
