Silver Falls is reshuffling: On August 6, Netflix is releasing the third season of "My Life with the Walter Boys," and the new episodes thoroughly transform several characters. Showrunner and series creator Melanie Halsall told Netflix's "Tudum" portal what this season is mainly about: "This season is about-more so than other seasons-growing up, maturing, and taking responsibility."
Cole trades the workshop for the racetrack
The change is particularly evident in Cole (Noah LaLonde). After recently training his old football team, he's now behind the wheel himself-on the racetrack. A race car driver notices his talent, and a new chapter begins for Cole. "We wanted to give him something in this season that's just his," Halsall explains to "Tudum." "Racing replaces the thrill he used to get from football."
His brother Alex (Ashby Gentry) is also seeking an adrenaline rush, though in the saddle: He joins Hartford's rodeo team full-time. At just 16 years old, he's the youngest among a group of experienced professionals, which brings him fame and attention, but also plenty of pressure. "Alex matures more than anyone else between seasons two and three," Halsall says about the character.
Jackie finally puts herself first
A change also affects Jackie (Nikki Rodriguez). Instead of continuing to please everyone else, she dares to become a bolder version of herself, evident in part through more confident clothing. "Jackie has never put herself first, never," Rodriguez says. "For the first time in this season, she starts doing that." On the side, she's working on expanding the town's community center.
But Jackie can't completely shake off last year's events. The season two finale left fans with a dramatic moment: Cole and Jackie confess their love, Alex happens to overhear everything, and at the same moment an ambulance arrives to take family father George (Marc Blucas) to the hospital. According to Netflix, this is exactly where season three picks up.
Three new faces for Silver Falls
Three new cast members bring fresh energy. Chad Rook plays dragster driver Mac, who hires Cole to upgrade the engine of one of his race cars. Naveen Paddock takes on the role of charming New Yorker Eliot, an intern for Jackie's uncle Richard, whose appearance pulls Jackie between her old and new life, as the trailer already shows. And Erin Karpluk portrays Hannah, George's wandering sister and mother of Isaac and Lee, who suddenly shows up at the door after a long absence.
The story's continuation is already confirmed: Netflix has already renewed "My Life with the Walter Boys" for a fourth season, set to be released in 2027. The series is based on the novel by Ali Novak.
