The death of Bonnie Tyler has triggered a wave of sympathy in the German music scene. Numerous stars spoke out on Instagram, led by Florian Silbereisen (44) and Dieter Bohlen (72), both of whom worked closely with the Welsh singer professionally. Tyler died at the age of 75, as reported by the "BBC" among others.
Florian Silbereisen's words were particularly personal. The host regularly invited the singer to his stages, including for "Schlagerbooom". "I don't even know how many times I was able to present Bonnie Tyler at 'Schlagerbooom' and in many other shows", he wrote on Instagram. "But I know that she sang like no other in the world!"
Silbereisen also recalled hours away from the spotlight. He had celebrated New Year's Eve with Tyler. The fact that her last major TV appearance was with him makes him sad. The host ended his obituary with the words: "Now the world star becomes a superstar in heaven!"
Dieter Bohlen shows an old photo
Dieter Bohlen chose to go through his Instagram story. The pop titan published an old picture showing him together with Bonnie Tyler. "We share beautiful memories", he wrote. And continued: "It was great working with you."
Further reactions came from the schlager and pop world. Thomas Anders (63) cherishes the shared musical moments and every encounter in the best memory, as he wrote. "Rest in peace, my dear", said the Modern Talking singer. "You will never be forgotten."
Singer Matthias Reim reacted in disbelief. "I can hardly believe it and I am incredibly sorry! You will be missed, Bonnie!", he wrote. Designer Harald Glööckler, who knew the artist personally, thanked her for the "many wonderful moments" and directed comforting words to her husband Robert and the family.
A band owes Tyler their tours
Closely connected to the singer was the band More Than Words by Stefanie Hertel, her husband Lanny Lanner and Johanna Mross. The musicians were able to accompany Tyler on tour multiple times and stand with her on stage. "We are inconsolable", they wrote in their farewell post. They will never forget this time and feel honored to have been part of her journey for a brief moment.
Ben Zucker remembers a stage duet
Ben Zucker shared on Instagram the video of a joint performance with Bonnie Tyler. He recalled an unforgettable television moment and an equally unforgettable artist. Everyone had been excitedly looking forward to the big joint performance back then, and the result had been something special. "We all stood at the edge of the stage and simply had goosebumps during this performance", Zucker wrote.
The British singer became known primarily for her raspy voice and the eighties world hit "Total Eclipse of the Heart". According to the "BBC", she had already been placed in an induced coma in Portugal in May after emergency intestinal surgery. Although she woke up again last month, her spokesperson still described the singer's condition as very serious.
Bonnie Tyler looked back on a career spanning more than four decades. "Total Eclipse of the Heart" surpassed the one billion streams mark on Spotify this year. Most recently, the singer released a new single with "Yes I Can".
