Hollywood star Michael J. Fox (65) has secured a new role. However, he is not stepping in front of the cameras, but is lending his voice to one of the main characters in a new animated film. This is reported by the US trade magazine "Variety".
The actor, known among other things from the "Back to the Future" films, has chosen his jobs in the film industry very carefully in recent years. Fox is suffering from Parkinson's disease. In the new animated film "Dragoons", he voices a character named Dougie.
In the film by animation studio Icon Creative Studio, Fox voices an ordinary employee at WizCorp who is often overlooked. After an accident, he becomes a hero together with his apprentice Dart. Transformed into a powerful dragon, Dougie discovers with Dart that their kind once ruled the skies, according to the official description of the project. However, the "ruthless wizard and CEO Hex" shrank them and stole their memories and powers "to build his empire".
Michael J. Fox is meant to give Dougie "a soul"
"I really relate to the story of Dougie and Dart - the idea that something huge can lie dormant within you, just waiting for the right moment to be released", Fox is quoted as saying. It is "a film for anyone who has ever felt overlooked, underestimated, or forgotten". It is an honor for him to help bring the character to life.
Shea Wageman, the head of the animation studio, explains that at the very beginning of developing the character Dougie, they knew "that we needed a voice that radiates both immense warmth and an unwavering spirit". Fox brings all of that and more, giving Dougie "a soul".
Further details, such as whether other stars are associated with the project or when the film will be released, have not yet been disclosed. Information about this is expected to be published in the coming months.
