Opinions can change, as Melanie Chisholm (52) proves. She was once known for not wanting to get married. Now the wedding of the Spice Girls singer famous as Mel C is said to be imminent. The British tabloid "Daily Mirror" claims to have learned that "Sporty Spice" wants to tie the knot with her partner Chris Dingwall this weekend.
The couple reportedly first met through the celebrity dating app "Raya". There aren't many details about the alleged wedding yet. According to the report, Mel C is said to have invited all her bandmates and the celebration is set to take place against a "beautiful" backdrop in the British countryside.
The last Spice Girl says "I do"
She would be the last member of the legendary British girl group to say "I do". The other four Spice Girls are already married. Victoria Beckham (52, Posh Spice) walked down the aisle with former professional soccer player David Beckham (51) in 1999. Geri Horner (53, Ginger Spice) married former racing driver Christian Horner (52) in 2015. Emma Bunton (50, Baby Spice) has been married to singer-songwriter Jade Jones (47) since 2021 and Mel B (51, Scary Spice) has been in her third marriage with hairstylist Rory McPhee since last year.
In the past, Mel C had repeatedly emphasized that a wedding was probably not in her future. In 2011, for example, she said according to Irish broadcaster RTE that marriage to her then-partner Tom Starr, with whom she has a daughter, was not planned. At that point, they had already been together for about nine years. The singer spoke about superstition playing a role - or rather the fear that the happy relationship could change through marriage.
In early 2026, she then indicated that her perspective had apparently changed. When asked whether she wanted to marry her boyfriend Chris, the singer replied in an interview with the "Sunday Times": "That's something I didn't think would be part of my story. But I'm so happy with Chris. Maybe it is something that will play a role in my life." Mel C thinks to herself: "Just do all these things. [...] Collect all these experiences."
