The family of Ralph Siegel (80) shows relief. As both his daughter Giulia Siegel (51) and his wife Laura Siegel (43) announce, the music producer and composer has awakened from his induced coma. As previously reported, the Eurovision legend had been placed into it due to severe pneumonia.

"The entire family is infinitely grateful and relieved that he has taken the first major step: The induced coma could be ended and he is awake", confirms his daughter Giulia in a post on her Instagram account. His half-brother from Berlin "surprised my father with his visit" today on July 17, and he was delighted, she writes further. "We can all already have light conversations with him and look ahead with confidence to the coming days."

Giulia Siegel also thanks her followers for their sympathy and support. Speaking to "Bild" newspaper, Laura Siegel confirms the positive development with nearly identical words.

Ralph Siegel Responded to Music While in Coma

In early July, the family had announced that Siegel was placed in an induced coma. A few days later, Laura Siegel also told "Bild": "He is still in the induced coma, but responds when we play his favorite music for him or when I give him a kiss." His daughter Alana Siegel explained full of confidence, according to the report: "My dad is a fighter. I know he will make it, because I don't know anyone who is as strong as he is."

Ralph Siegel is among the most successful German composers. For decades, he shaped the Eurovision Song Contest with numerous contributions, including the winning title "Ein bisschen Frieden" by Nicole from 1982.
