ZDF is getting a new face in the early evening: Starting next week, Marvin Fischer will host the news and boulevard magazine "hallo deutschland" for the first time. The TV host will guide viewers through the show in rotation with Sandra Maria Gronewald.
For his debut, Marvin Fischer will be on camera from Monday, July 6, through Friday, July 10, at 5:10 PM each day, according to a press release. After a short break, he will take over hosting duties for another three weeks starting July 20. Sandra Maria Gronewald will then return to the host desk in the second week of August. She has been presenting "hallo deutschland" again since 2024, after previously hosting the format from 2011 to 2020.
Eleventh Host in Nearly 30 Years
With Marvin Fischer, the ZDF show "hallo deutschland" welcomes its eleventh host since the program launched on June 16, 1997. The weekday magazine reports on current news and everyday topics. Since October 2023, the show has aired Monday through Friday in an extended edition from 5:10 PM to 6:00 PM.
The hosting team in recent years has included Sandra Maria Gronewald as well as Lissy Ishag, Babette von Kienlin, and Tim Niedernolte, among others.
Marvin Fischer: From Radio to Television
Marvin Fischer previously hosted the boulevard magazine "Maintower" on Hessischer Rundfunk from 2020 to 2026. After studying social sciences and completing a traineeship at Radio Emscher Lippe, he began his career as a radio host.
Fischer remains loyal to radio as well: He still hosts on YOU FM, which is now part of the joint program offering "DasDing" from HR, SWR, and SR. With his move to "hallo deutschland", he is taking on hosting duties for the successful ZDF early evening magazine for the first time.
