This Monday, British acting stars Emma Watson (36) and Benedict Cumberbatch (49) met with Prince William (44) at an event in the British capital. The occasion was a business forum for the United for Wildlife initiative, which belongs to the Royal Foundation.
The meeting took place as part of London Climate Action Week, which runs until June 28. An Instagram post about the event stated: "On June 22, global leaders from finance, transportation, and technology come together to look back on a decade of commitment and help shape the future of the fight against illegal wildlife trade." In addition to the actors and the heir to the throne, other prominent guests were in attendance. Among them were presenter June Sarpong and former US Vice President Al Gore.
United for Wildlife was founded in 2013 by Prince William and the Royal Foundation. The organization is committed to combating environmental crime and illegal wildlife trade worldwide. According to its own statements, it also advocates for those who protect animals and nature - from rangers in Africa and Scotland to indigenous communities in South America.
An Anecdote from "Harry Potter" Days
Emma Watson provided a lighthearted moment at the event with a memory from her time as a "Harry Potter" actress. Back then, she believed her privacy had been violated - but in the end, the supposed incident turned out to be a misunderstanding.
As the actress recounted, she looked outside and discovered "plenty of men with large lenses" there. She assumed the men wanted to spy on her. She then sent someone ahead to confront the supposed photographers while she herself disappeared outside through another exit.
The resolution came quickly: The men weren't after Emma Watson at all. Their target was a red kite - a bird of prey that the photographers wanted to capture with their telephoto lenses. The scene was captured by "Hello" magazine in a video.
