French DJ and music producer Kavinsky has died at the age of 50. According to French media reports, the artist was found deceased in his Paris apartment. The prosecutor's office stated that they have "opened an investigation to determine the cause of death".

The music star, whose real name was Vincent Belorgey, achieved a hit with his 2010 track "Nightcall", which served as the soundtrack for the opening credits of the 2011 film "Drive" starring Ryan Gosling (45). The track was also played at the closing ceremony of the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris and enjoyed great streaming success.

Politicians pay tribute to the artist

French President Emmanuel Macron (48) paid tribute to the late DJ on social media following news of his death. He wrote on Facebook that Kavinsky is "forever a source of French pride". Minister of Culture Catherine Pégard (71) added on X: "With the sudden death of Kavinsky, France has lost one of its most unique voices."

Her post continued: "From the film 'Drive' to the Paris Olympics - the entire world was moved by 'Nightcall'. His music, which is both danceable and nostalgic, will continue to transcend generations and borders."
