No one following German celebrities could escape the 36-year-old Tokio Hotel twins Tom and Bill Kaulitz in recent weeks and months. Now the brothers report in their podcast that a short vacation is coming up first and they also want to give fans the opportunity to catch their breath.
They seemed to be visible on all channels lately. A new season of the Netflix series "Kaulitz & Kaulitz", the upcoming return of "Wetten, dass..?" with the twins, the successful podcast "Kaulitz Hills - Senf aus Hollywood", Tom as a "fan expert" for MagentaTV at the World Cup...
"There will be no 'Kaulitz Hills' for two weeks"
In the episode of their podcast published on July 29, the Kaulitz twins address exactly that. Right at the beginning of the last episode of the sixth season, the two talk about a break, which however turns out to be significantly shorter than many others. "We're going on vacation", Tom announces. "There will be no 'Kaulitz Hills' for two weeks."
They had wished for the short break, he continues. They're thus giving "people a little time to catch their breath. I also have the feeling we're on constant broadcast somehow at the moment." For him, it also feels like the two are "already getting on everyone's nerves again". "I'm already annoying myself." His brother Bill can understand that. They're simply doing fans "the favor" of keeping their mouths shut, the two joke.
Everyone else is already on vacation and they're still doing their work, the brothers report at a later point. Just recently "Without You", the new single by their band Tokio Hotel was released. In the podcast they say they're in the process of finishing the new album. Before the vacation, the last files are going to mastering, says the stressed Tom.
"Such a shocking, sad piece of news"
In addition, the brothers address, among other things, the attack on the sidelines of Christopher Street Day (CSD) in Berlin. "First of all, of course, our deepest condolences to all the victims, those affected", says Bill. "I find this such a shocking, sad piece of news that touched and moved one so intensely on so many levels", he continues. Tom also speaks of a mixture of feelings. "I'm angry, I'm incredibly sad. I have a ton of questions." He wonders, for example, how something so terrible can happen at such a peaceful event. Added to this is immediate concern for family, friends, acquaintances and the community, but also a feeling of powerlessness.
On Saturday evening, a man drove a van into a crowd of people in Berlin. According to official statements, one woman was killed as of now, and at least 29 people were injured, some seriously. Later, at least 31 injured people were mentioned. The suspected attacker was shot dead during a police operation.
On Tokio Hotel's Instagram account, a statement was already published after the attack. All band members, besides Bill and Tom also Georg Listing (39) and Gustav Schäfer (37), stated in the announcement that they are "deeply shocked by the senseless act of violence". "Our thoughts are with all those affected, the victims, their relatives and the entire LGBTQIA+ community. For us, CSD stands for love, freedom, acceptance and the right to be oneself without fear."
