In this relationship, it was the woman who proposed: Maria Clara Groppler (27) got down on one knee for her partner Phil Laude (36). On her Instagram account, the comedian posted several photos of the moment and wrote just four words: "He said yes."
The series of images shows a venue with heart-shaped balloons hanging from the ceiling. A kiss can be seen, a tight embrace, along with Polaroids spread out on a wooden table. In one of the photos, Laude holds his left hand up to the camera and presents a silver ring that's actually far too large for him.
Groppler and Laude have been a couple since 2020, and in March of this year they celebrated their sixth anniversary. The comedian posted professional photos on Instagram at the time that looked suspiciously similar to a wedding shoot. "Today we've been together for 6 years. And that's almost record-breaking for an artist couple, isn't it?", she wrote.
She then took the whole arrangement apart herself: "Phil may have been forced into these photos. It's possible that his sister @siri.wedding.photography wanted to promote her wedding photography and @mariaclaragroppler wanted to draw attention to her new show 'Ehefrau' and Phil chose the path of least resistance."
A beginning that was difficult for Laude
The fact that the comedian was able to enter into a new relationship at all was not taken for granted for a long time. His longtime partner died in July 2018 from the consequences of a brain hemorrhage. Three years after her death, Laude publicly expressed what he had accomplished: "I was even able to face the most difficult of all tasks and allow love for a wonderful partner again." He was referring to Groppler.
Professionally, the 36-year-old has closed several chapters and opened new ones in recent years. On December 11, 2015, he ended the YouTube trio Y-TITTY together with Matthias Roll (34) and Oguz Yilmaz (35), after 354 videos and more than 800 million views. In 2016, he had a movie role in Bibi und Tina: Mädchen gegen Jungs, later his Alman clips struck a nerve, and from 2021 onwards the series Almania was added. At the end of 2025, he also drew a line under his solo career on YouTube.
Groppler, meanwhile, became known through her social media channels and has been running the podcast Jungfrau Maria empfängt since 2020. She introduced herself to a larger television audience in 2024 as a contestant on Let's Dance.
