The reboot of the Kiel "Tatort" is among the most exciting changes in the ARD's Sunday crime series universe - and Karoline Schuch (44, TV drama "Elodie") is looking forward to it with great anticipation. On the sidelines of the "Servus München" film festival party hosted by Bavaria Studios & Bavaria Fiction, the actress spoke with spot on news about her upcoming debut as police psychologist Elli Krieger and revealed why she expressly welcomes the numerous changes to Germany's most successful crime series.
Following the departure of Axel Milberg (69) as cult investigator Klaus Borowski in March 2025, Schuch is taking over the investigations in Kiel together with Almila Bagriacik (35). The new duo is the first all-female investigative team at the Förde. The debut will take place in fall with the double episode "Unter Freunden / Unter Feinden", and additional cases have already been filmed.
Karoline Schuch still relaxed ahead of her "Tatort" debut
Schuch is not yet afraid of the big premiere. "I'm not really nervous because it's been a while since we filmed the first 'Tatort'. But ask me again at the premiere - then maybe I will be", she says laughing.
She finds it particularly interesting that things are currently changing at many locations in the crime series. "I'm happy about the transformation and the changes in 'Tatort'. The new teams are all super exciting", Schuch explains. Whether Frankfurt, Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Vienna, Franconia or Kiel - for the actress, the current upheaval is an opportunity for fresh characters and new dynamics.
While she is still keeping quiet about her own debut, she does give a small preview. "It will be clear that the chemistry between the characters Mila and Elli is not perfect from the start, but we will work things out together and that's the beautiful part. I like that." However, she is not allowed to reveal much more yet.
What "Tatort: Unter Freunden / Unter Feinden" is about
What is known about the "Tatort" double episode "Unter Freunden / Unter Feinden" is that it is expected to air on two consecutive Sundays in 2026 on Das Erste. At the beginning, a young woman is found dead at the Kiel Förde. The evidence points to a white-collar crime, but a crime of passion is also possible. And this is where police psychologist Elli Krieger comes into play. She is actually supposed to psychologically evaluate Mila Sahin after the latter applied as successor to the criminal director...
But that's not all: Episodes three and four of the new Kiel team with the working titles "Goldspinner" and "Wer Wölfe ruft" have also already been completed. In the former, the investigators delve into the world of soccer, while in "Wer Wölfe ruft" they hunt a serial killer. As the NDR further reported, these two crime dramas were also filmed in parallel in fall 2025. They are scheduled to air on Das Erste in 2027.
