For a long time, Justin Baldoni (42) remained silent while his legal dispute with Blake Lively (38) made headlines. Now the actor and director has broken his silence. Together with his wife Emily (41), he spoke out in an Instagram video on Wednesday. In the clip, Emily Baldoni spoke of "immense gratitude" toward all those who had supported the couple since Lively first raised allegations against her "It Ends with Us" director and co-star in December 2024. Baldoni himself summed it up in one sentence: "Gratitude has saved us."
"There was a lot of trauma"
At the same time, Emily made it clear that this gratitude "does not outweigh the injustice and pain" the family has suffered over the past few years. "We had to grapple with so many things and try to understand so much, such as how something like this could even happen, especially disguised as a supposed fight for women", she said. This had resulted in "trauma". Her family now has to get through this together.
Justin Baldoni explained why the couple had not spoken out for so long. "Over the past few years, so many painful things have been put out into the world", Baldoni said, whereupon his wife interjected: "Untrue ones." They did not want to add to the noise that had been created. "We simply wanted to let justice take its course." Emily added: "And the truth and the facts have spoken for themselves, and here we stand now."
Settlement two weeks before trial begins
Baldoni and Lively settled their bitter dispute surrounding the making of their 2024 film only in May of this year, just two weeks before the scheduled trial. As part of the settlement, Baldoni is said to be paying Lively's legal fees, which according to US media amount to just over eight million US dollars.
