Did AI write the action film "F1" with Brad Pitt (62)? Oscar winner Jodie Foster (63) can apparently imagine that, as she explained during an event at the Aspen Ideas Festival. There, the actress spoke, among other things, about artificial intelligence in the film industry.
"If we are able to consistently control AI in the long term, then yes, then we will create things that reflect us, and we can improve things", Foster said, adding: "Will we be able to control the technology? This particular technology for longer than a few years? I don't know."
Why Jodie Foster mentions "F1" as an example
Jodie Foster, who also works as a director and producer, was then asked whether she believed that AI could actually replace writers or actors. "We're already doing that", she said in reference to actors. She then explained that she often thinks of "movies that already exist" that could have been created by AI. As an example, she mentioned Joseph Kosinski's (52) film "F1" with Pitt in the lead role.
"I don't mean that in a derogatory way, how could I? After all, this film made millions of dollars." But when she watches a film like "F1", she thinks: It "was made by an AI. Or wasn't it?" She further explained: "The structure matched exactly what you learn in school. The actors deliver their lines exactly as they would be written if a computer had written exactly what would be right for that time. And they managed to master the technology in such a way that they created something big and beautiful - with possibly much of the information coming from other sources."
Foster seemed to mention the film more as an example rather than claiming that "F1" was actually created by an AI, writes "The Hollywood Reporter" about her statements. The 2025 film, which was co-produced by Formula 1 star Lewis Hamilton (41), was nominated for four Oscars, including in the "Best Picture" category. It won one Oscar for Best Sound.
