Is Deal or no Deal returning to TV? According to the ticket website MyShow, a pilot episode of the game show will be recorded on June 23 - with Jörg Pilawa (60) as host. So is the show making a comeback on Sat.1? The network is remaining tight-lipped when asked by the news agency spot on news. "We are currently piloting several shows for Sat.1 access and Sat.1 prime time. We will announce in due time which shows we will broadcast on Sat.1," a network spokesperson explained.
These stars have already hosted the show
Deal or no Deal is one of the most internationally successful game show formats and has already been shown on German television multiple times. In this country, the show became known primarily through Sat.1: Contestants had to choose briefcases or boxes with unknown amounts of money and repeatedly accept or reject offers from the mysterious "Banker" during the game. The foundation was laid in 2004 by Linda de Mol (61) with "Der Millionen-Deal." The subsequent successful Sat.1 era with the classic briefcases was shaped primarily by Guido Cantz (54) starting in 2005. Later, Wayne Carpendale (49) hosted a remake in which boxes were used instead of briefcases.
Could Pilawa now bring fresh energy to the show? The host is already deployed at Sat.1 as a quiz and game show face: He currently hosts "Das 1% Quiz - Wie clever ist Deutschland?" there, which has been running on the network since 2023.
Duchess Meghan also appeared on the show
What many don't know: The format is also part of a future duchess's early career. In the US version of Deal or no Deal, Meghan Markle (44), the wife of Prince Harry (41) and current Duchess of Sussex, appeared as one of the so-called "Briefcase Models" in 2006 and 2007. She was seen in more than 30 episodes before achieving her acting breakthrough several years later with the legal drama Suits.
