A fatality occurred at the Hurricane Festival in Scheeßel, Lower Saxony: A 41-year-old visitor died on Saturday at the site on Eichenring. The medical service announced this at the final press conference. According to the organizers and authorities, however, the incident was not related to the festival events.

A medical service employee described what happened, as reported by "HNA": The woman, who allegedly suffered from pre-existing conditions, went into a situation requiring resuscitation in the presence of emergency personnel. However, resuscitation attempts were unsuccessful. There was no festival context to her medical condition.

Companions received pastoral care

The people who had accompanied the deceased received emergency pastoral care. Some of the companions found accommodation away from the festival activities in cooperation with the parish in Scheeßel, as the medical service further reported.

Despite the tragic death, the organizers, the municipality of Scheeßel, and the responsible authorities drew an overall positive conclusion of the festival, which celebrated its 30th anniversary this year. Major names included Twenty One Pilots, Kraftklub, Yungblud, Papa Roach, The Offspring, Billy Talent, Florence + The Machine, Halsey, Provinz, Empire Of The Sun, A Day To Remember, Clueso, and BHZ.

The organization and safety of the festival were unanimously praised at the final conference. The previously feared health consequences due to high temperatures largely failed to materialize. The number of treatments at the medical service was average, with most cases related to circulation problems.

On the official Instagram account, the final statement read: "That was 30 years of Hurricane. We couldn't have dreamed of a more beautiful anniversary. THANK YOU for celebrating 30 years of HURRICANE with us. Get home safely, we'll see you in 2027." Next year, the festival will take place from June 18-20, 2027.
