Tim Allen (72) reports that there is interest in a reboot of the sitcom "Hör mal, wer da hämmert". However, the actor and comedian suggests in a recent interview that a comeback is currently rather unlikely. Allen, who became internationally known as family man and "tool king" Tim Taylor with the 90s series "Hör mal, wer da hämmert", hints that this may be due to his former TV sons.
In addition to Allen, the cast at the time included Patricia Richardson (75) as Taylor's wife Jill, as well as Zachery Ty Bryan (44), Jonathan Taylor Thomas (44), and Taran Noah Smith (42) as the couple's sons. There are discussions about "how things could continue, but they're not getting anywhere" because there are currently some personal disagreements among the boys, Allen tells the magazine "Us Weekly". "They have their own problems. I always thought it would be cool if there was a story about them. That's a bit of a challenge at the moment, to say the least."
One is in prison, two apparently have no interest in acting
Zachery Ty Bryan has had multiple run-ins with the law in recent years. For violating his probation conditions, he was sentenced to 19 months in prison in Oregon in March 2026, according to a report by the magazine "People". He had previously received a 16-month prison sentence for driving under the influence in 2024, which he is serving in a California prison.
Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Taran Noah Smith, meanwhile, apparently do not plan to return to the camera. On the podcast "Back to the Best", Richardson said in 2024 that neither she nor Taylor Thomas had been asked about a possible reunion. She also has no interest in it. Taran Noah Smith has not acted since "Hör mal, wer da hämmert": "He's no longer an actor. And Jonathan isn't really interested in acting. He wants to direct and write scripts. And we no longer have Wilson." Richardson was referring to actor Earl Hindman, who passed away in 2003 and once played the TV family's neighbor.
