Gülcan Kamps (43) has frequently talked about her difficult path to family happiness. Now the TV host provided further insights in a new Instagram post.
"Very little to do with wishes"
There she described that one of the "top 10 questions" she gets asked in every interview is: "When did you first want to start a family and have children?" She had always answered this question, she emphasized - "just not with all the details." Now she clarified: "The wish came at 33 and the first pregnancy also at 33. Yes friends, that's how it is! And that's how it is for many others." Almost nobody likes to talk about it, though.
Kamps continued writing: "The entire journey from wanting a child to having a child has very little to do with wishes. The journey is simply extreme and emotional in every respect." But she also emphasized: "The reward is also extreme! Extremely beautiful, incredible and fascinating!"
Path to children's happiness was "rocky"
Already at the end of May, she had published emotional but also encouraging lines on her Instagram account. At that time she wrote: "10 years ago, my first real desire to have children emerged. I haven't told you my whole story about it yet. The short version: It was wild!!! Very." But she had "always believed" that she would one day have two children. The path there had been bumpy or even "rocky." Then she appealed to women wanting children: "Ladies, I want to tell you... Keep at it, fight and don't give up so quickly. No matter how unreachable and big your dreams seem."
Gülcan Kamps has been in a relationship with Sebastian Kamps (45) since 2004; they married at the Baltic Sea in 2007. The celebration was broadcast live on ProSieben. Her first child was born in late 2021 - at that time the TV host was 39 years old. In April 2026, the TV host announced the birth of her second child. She did not reveal details such as the gender and names for either child.
