Rockstar Games has announced the start date for pre-orders of "Grand Theft Auto VI". According to Rockstar, pre-sales of the highly anticipated title are set to begin on June 25. Gamers can pre-order the game both through digital platforms like the PlayStation Store and at selected retailers. The publisher also unveiled the official cover artwork on Thursday as part of a roughly 30-second teaser video.
Release date has been delayed multiple times
"GTA 6" is currently scheduled for release on November 19, 2026. After the video game was originally supposed to be released in 2025, the release was postponed from May 2025 to May 2026. In November 2025, Rockstar Games then announced that the release date would be delayed again. In a message to the community, the studio apologized for the delay while thanking fans for their patience and support. At the same time, the developers expressed optimism and announced they would soon bring players to the fictional state of Leonida and to a modernized version of Vice City.
In terms of content, the new installment focuses on the characters Jason and Lucia. After a "simple heist", as described on the game's website, they become caught up in a far-reaching conspiracy spanning the state of Leonida. The two find themselves forced to work closely together to survive.
The predecessor, "Grand Theft Auto V", was first released in 2013 for the PS3 and Xbox 360 platforms. Additional versions have been released since then. In May, it was reported that "GTA V" has sold more than 230 million copies since its release. "GTA 6" is initially set to be released for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
