The children's and youth series "Schloss Einstein" is approaching a major milestone. New episodes for the upcoming 30th season are currently being filmed. Featuring Alexandra Popp (35), a star player will appear in a guest role that fits the storyline of the fresh episodes. This is announced by the responsible MDR on June 25.
According to the statement, filming for the total of 26 new episodes has been underway since the end of May. It is currently planned that work will continue until October. According to the broadcaster, approximately 2,000 children applied for casting. The episodes are then expected to be shown starting in spring 2027 on the children's channel KiKA. They will also be available for streaming on the broadcaster's website, in the ARD media library, and via the KiKA app.
What is the new "Schloss Einstein" season about?
A group of students from "Sonnenwinkel" arrives at "Einstein", which causes tensions on site. The situation soon escalates and the student body becomes divided. According to MDR, the season tells "of the search for community in an increasingly polarized environment". Germany's national sport of soccer then becomes a unifying element. During her guest appearance, Popp will give a training session to a soccer team.
Popp is very pleased with the engagement, according to the statement. "I thought the request was cool from the start because I watched 'Schloss Einstein' myself as a child", explains the national team player. The sport is "a sport that extremely connects people and brings together different groups that ultimately have a common goal: to win the game." She believes that sports is "something extremely important and at the same time very simple" for team cohesion.
In the upcoming episodes, there will also be eight new students to see, who partly come to "Einstein" involuntarily. In addition to Popp's guest appearance, there is also an episode in which the series looks back on around three decades of its own history. In that episode, there will be a return of beloved characters in additional guest appearances.
