The rumor mill surrounding "Only Murders in the Building" is bubbling - and the result is impressive. According to a report by trade magazine "Variety", eight prominent guest stars have signed on for the sixth season of the Hulu hit series. One casting stands out in particular: Geri Halliwell-Horner (53), known as former Spice Girl "Ginger Spice", is switching from the music stage to the series camera.

The former Spice Girls singer, who was most recently seen in the movie "Gran Turismo", is joining an ensemble that already shines. Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez as the main trio are investigating on British soil for the first time in the new season - a relocation that producers and viewers had anticipated since the season 5 finale. The plot revolves around the death of Cinda Canning, whose mysterious demise drives the three amateur detectives across the Atlantic.

Top-Tier Reinforcements from Great Britain

The fact that the production is recruiting its six British main characters directly from the United Kingdom follows a certain logic. Alongside Halliwell-Horner, Martin Freeman ("Sherlock", "The Responder") and Jamie Demetriou ("Stath Lets Flats") are on board. The latter is among the most sought-after British comedy writers and actors of his generation. The new quartet is completed by Anjana Vasan, known from "We Are Lady Parts" and the anthology series "Black Mirror".

Two additional newcomers bring series history into play: Jane Horrocks, who was most recently seen in the comedy series "Bloods", and Lesley Nicol, familiar to millions of viewers as the warmhearted Mrs. Patmore from "Downton Abbey". A remarkable name in the new cast is Derek Jacobi: The Shakespeare veteran and actor from "Gladiator" and "The King's Speech" brings the highest level of acting class.

Secrets as Usual

Those in charge are keeping quiet about the exact roles of the newcomers - as has always been customary with "Only Murders in the Building". Precise character details are revealed shortly before or only at the start of airing to maintain the element of surprise. Production is currently underway in Great Britain.

Previously announced newcomers for season six include Jennifer Saunders, Simone Ashley, Sean Teale, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, and Sharon Horgan. In addition, there's series regular Michael Cyril Creighton. Whether Da'Vine Joy Randolph, who was spotted on set, officially belongs to the cast is not yet confirmed according to "Variety".

Behind the camera, series creators Steve Martin and John Hoffman continue to serve as executive producers. The same applies to Martin Short, Selena Gomez, as well as Dan Fogelman, Jess Rosenthal, Ben Smith, Jennifer Crittenden, and Gabrielle Allan. The series is produced by 20th Television.
