'Das Neinhorn' by cabaret artist, kangaroo revolutionary, and children's book author Marc-Uwe Kling (b. 1982) is coming to the big screen. While it will be quite a while before the film is released, Warner Bros. is showing a first teaser for the upcoming movie, fitting for the current summer season, featuring a scene in which the Neinhorn is invited for ice cream.
The story of 'Das Neinhorn' revolves around a little unicorn who, according to a press release, has had enough of 'the happy-clappy, snuggly-wuggly cotton candy world.' It sets off for Nowhere, hoping to avoid having any adventures along the way. But will some quirky companions throw a wrench in those plans? The film is currently scheduled to open in German theaters on January 1, 2027.
Stars from Nora Tschirner to Torsten Sträter on Board
The author of the source material for the animated film, which was illustrated by Astrid Henn, is apparently heavily involved in the project. The screenplay was written by Kling and Studio Soi, and he is also listed as a director alongside Johannes Weiland and Studio Soi. Additionally, Kling is part of the voice cast. Numerous prominent personalities from acting and comedy are also taking on voice roles.
The cast includes 'Tatort' star Nora Tschirner (45), 'Fack ju Göhte' actress Karoline Herfurth (42), and her colleague Benito Bause (b. 1991). From the stand-up and cabaret field are Hazel Brugger (32), Torsten Sträter (59), Carolin Kebekus (46), and Bodo Wartke (49). Cartoonist Ralph Ruthe (54) also voices a character, as does Tobi Krell (40), known as 'Checker Tobi.'
Adults are probably most familiar with Kling for his series of stories about a communist kangaroo who also has anarchist tendencies. The latest installment in the series, 'Die Känguru-Rebellion,' was just published this year.
