The duo Modern Talking was part of the absolute German pop elite in the 1980s. However, Dieter Bohlen (72) and Thomas Anders (63) broke up the band. Later they came together again... and split up once more in the 2000s. For years it has been reported that the two are not on good terms with each other. Bohlen, however, apparently wants to bury the hatchet. There have been lucrative offers, as he reveals.

"I think it's childish nonsense when, for many years because of something Thomas once did or something I did, we don't at least think about reviving our shared success", Bohlen tells the "Bild" newspaper. Anders is not an enemy, he continues to report. Bohlen "hasn't been walking around with hate in his belly for years. That flew away long ago."

Bohlen was offered Modern Talking concerts

So why not revive old times? Why not perform together again with hits like "Cheri Cheri Lady" or "You're My Heart, You're My Soul"? Bohlen asks why they shouldn't "do the fans a favor". The music producer and singer reports: "The concert promoter Live Nation asked us if we wanted to do ten big performances, worldwide." But that's not all. There have also already been considerations about a Modern Talking musical. Additionally, a possible documentary about the band has been requested.

Bohlen then thought about why they actually always say no on such occasions. Besides that, he is frequently asked what would happen if he randomly ran into his former colleague. "Hello, Thomas", Bohlen would simply say. "If we had a good conversation, I could also imagine giving him a hug." He hints at having contacted Anders as well. Bohlen has "asked Thomas if we don't want to do something together again".

"Regarding possible joint performances, we still have different opinions", says Bohlen, who is open to it. He envisions concerts on the scale of a Helene Fischer (41). He is convinced that just as many fans would show up at a Modern Talking concert at Volksparkstadion or at Schalke as at a gig by the queen of Schlager music.

Anders still believed in March: "That won't happen"

Anders did not want to comment on the topic when asked, according to "Bild". The singer has repeatedly rejected a Modern Talking comeback in recent years. In conversation with the "Hamburger Abendblatt", Anders explained as recently as March 2026 when asked why the two don't go on tour together: "No. I don't think that's a good idea. That stirs up a lot of hopes for a lot of people. [...] That doesn't help, it's a romantic notion of Modern Talking enthusiasts who wish to see us both back on stage together. But I believe that won't happen."
