After what feels like an eternity of speculation about the price, it's now officially confirmed with the start of preorders: how much "GTA 6" will cost. The price for the base version of the game, which is expected to break sales records once again, is 79.99 euros in Germany. The game has been available for preorder since the night of June 25. In addition to the base version, an "Ultimate Edition" will also be released.
"GTA 6" will be released on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. According to the publisher, "Grand Theft Auto 6: Ultimate Edition" includes a collection of additional premium vehicles, weapons, and clothing for the main characters Jason and Lucia. The "Ultimate Edition" costs 99.99 euros in Germany. In the USA, the price of the standard version is around 80 dollars, and the more expensive variant costs just under 100 dollars.
Physical box version also without disc
Gamers who initially purchase the standard version of the game will be able to buy the contents of the "Ultimate Edition" separately later. Pre-order customers will receive the "Vintage Vice City Pack" as a bonus. This also contains in-game items such as a limousine, outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia, as well as a weapon wrap. Those who purchase "Grand Theft Auto 6" digitally before November 20 or preorder a physical version of the game will receive the pack. Players who preorder in the PlayStation Store or Microsoft Store will additionally receive one free month of GTA+.
However, there will not be a classic disc version. The boxes in stores will not contain any physical media, as Rockstar announces. The packages only contain codes that can be redeemed to download the game. This variant will be offered starting November 12, so that gamers can download the game before the official release on November 19. For all variants, the following applies: "GTA 6" can be downloaded starting November 12 and will then be unlocked for play on November 19.
There has been repeated speculation about the "GTA 6" price
In the gaming scene, there is probably no doubt that the next "GTA" game will be a huge hit. The predecessor "GTA 5" was first released in 2013 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. In May, it was reported that the game, including later released versions, has sold more than 230 million copies since its release.
In recent months, there has been repeated speculation and discussion online about the price that "GTA 6" will have. Just a few days before the preorder launch, an alleged price leak caused a stir once again. Entries with the abbreviation "RS" along with different numbers had appeared in the shop of a French retail chain, which were later deleted according to media reports. The release date listed for the product entries was also November 19, which is the release date of "Grand Theft Auto 6".
Fans quickly discussed whether the "RS" could stand for Rockstar Games and whether these were different versions of "GTA 6". The retailer had listed prices between 89.99 euros and 199.99 euros. An industry insider later wrote on the social media platform X that these were probably just placeholders and that the prices were likely chosen arbitrarily according to his information.
