An era is coming to an end. Norman Reedus (57) has bid farewell to his most famous role. After 16 years in the series universe of "The Walking Dead", the actor has completed filming on the fourth and final season of the spinoff "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon". He reached out to his fans with a personal reflection.
Alongside unreleased footage from the set of the final season, Reedus noted that he had just gone through the photos from the last episode - back from Mongolia. It had been difficult for him to decide not to post individual images of the emotional farewell on Instagram.
"What we've accomplished feels simply incredible"
In his post, the actor raved about the collaboration. He can hardly wait for the audience to see the new season, into which so much passion and hard work have flowed. The team was the best he had ever worked with. Then comes a sentence that possibly also refers to his entire time in the undead franchise: "What we've accomplished feels simply incredible."
Now not only is his time with the spinoff "Daryl Dixon" over, but in the entire "The Walking Dead" franchise. Reedus continued in his post: "This time it just feels completely different."
The numerous spinoffs of "The Walking Dead"
"The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" is a spinoff of the successful AMC series "The Walking Dead", which originally aired from 2010 to 2022. Early on there were spinoffs such as "Fear the Walking Dead", which ran from 2015 to 2023, or the short-lived "The Walking Dead: World Beyond" from 2020 and 2021.
The story of the surviving main characters from the parent series "The Walking Dead" was, however, continued after the series ended in three spinoffs: namely "The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon" about the title character and Melissa McBride's (61) fan favorite Carol, as well as the miniseries "The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live" about Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln, 52) and Michonne (Danai Gurira, 48). Last but not least, "The Walking Dead: Dead City" continues the fate of Maggie (Lauren Cohan, 44) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan, 60). "Dead City" launches into its third season on July 26. An end has not yet been announced here.
