Ed Sheeran (32) had to cancel a concert in Las Vegas at extremely short notice. "I can't believe I'm writing this, but there were some problems setting up our show in Vegas," the singer wrote on Instagram. Twenty minutes before admission to Saturday's performance at Allegiant Stadium, officials pulled the emergency brake.

"I'm so sorry," the Brit continued to write. "I know everyone traveled for this and I wish I could change it." The gig will be made up on October 28 this year, he added. The tickets purchased will remain valid.

Shaking stage towers as reason for cancellation

Later, the British newspaper 'The Sun' revealed the reason for the cancellation. There had been problems with the flooring of the stage. This became apparent after Sheeran's team brought in their equipment the day before the scheduled performance. Overnight, rubber sheets were said to have come loose, causing two stage towers to shift. According to The Sun, technicians reinforced the towers, but they would still have shaken. For safety reasons the cancellation followed.

Ed Sheeran shared the 'Sun' article later on Instagram and apologized once again for the show's cancellation. Although it had been out of his hands, the superstar took "full responsibility for everyone who was disadvantaged by the cancellation." Previously, there had been criticism of the organizers on social media. Attendees reported that they stood in the heat for hours without knowing what was happening.
